The community is encouraged to join the Bulldog Walk for Parkinson’s at Hideaway Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23.
The entry fee is $5 and registration required for the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. There will be a table for registration when guests arrive.
“It’ll last for about two hours and the walk is a mile long,” said Louisiana Tech student Ashlyn O’Glee. “We plan to walk all throughout the downtown area.”
Joining the guests will be the Lambright Rock Steady Boxers and Dr. Les Guice, president of Louisiana Tech University.
“Railroad Coffee is planning to make an appearance so you can get coffee and breakfast if you didn’t get the chance,” O’Glee said.
The Bulldog Walk is an annual walk that has taken place for five years. Its goal is to bring awareness for Parkinson’s and to bring the community together.
This Saturday is the first they’ve done it since COVID.
“It’s for the Rock Steady Boxers,” O’Glee said. “Louisiana Tech is the only campus that has a program on campus for Parkinson’s.”
The Rock Steady Boxers is a boxing class that takes place on Tuesday and Thursday for individuals with Parkinson’s.
“A lot of people don’t know so we’re hoping to make people more aware of Parkinson’s with the Bulldog Walk,” O’Glee said.
Furry friends are also encouraged to join the walk, but dogs are required to remain on leashes at all times for the walk.
