Arrested woman charged with attempted escape

A woman attempted to slip out of her handcuffs Tuesday after she was arrested when Ruston officers responded to a trespassing call.

Police answered a call about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday that two people were trespassing at a house in the 300 block of S. Farmerville Street.

A Ruston officer stopped one of the suspects, Lashonta Graham, 37, of Ruston, on Farmerville Street near McDonald Avenue. A records check showed Graham was wanted on a failure to appear in court warrant. She was arrested, handcuffed behind her back, and transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.

When the officer arrived at the detention center, Graham had moved the handcuffs to the front of her body and was attempted to remove her left hand from the cuffs. She was booked for the warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and simple escape.

Bail was set at $3,000.
