Woman held for Texas authorities

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Texas woman Sunday after learning she was wanted for parole violation.

Deputy D. Johnston spotted a Chevrolet Suburban with an expired license plate on Interstate 20 about 11:00 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was stopped near the Simsboro post office.

The driver was identified as Brenda E. Simmons, 36, of Cushing, Texas, a small community near Nacogdoches.

The male passenger said the vehicle belonged to his child’s mother who was not present and that the vehicle was uninsured and the registration had expired.

A records check showed the passenger was a member of the Aryan Circle gang and the driver was wanted in Texas for a parole violation. After the State of Texas confirmed a desire to extradite Simmons, she was arrested. The nature of the charge for which Simmons had been paroled was not available.

The passenger was allowed to leave due to having a minor child with him who needed medical care.

Simmons was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for expired vehicle registration, improper lane usage, no insurance, and the Texas warrant.
