Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A Dubach man stopped for speeding Thursday has been charged with several drug offenses.

Quinton Ashley, 37, was stopped for speeding on Eastland Ave in Ruston late Thursday night.

When the Ruston police officer approached his car, suspected marijuana was seen in the door panel and the odor of marijuana detected coming from the vehicle.

Ashley admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A search found a clear baggie containing suspected ecstasy pills and hydrocodone and a bag labeled THC 100 milligram containing gummy candies. Another bag containing suspected marijuana was found under the shifter panel between the driver and passenger seat

It was found Ashley’s driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle registration was expired. He was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of THC, possession of ecstasy, possession of hydrocodone, driving under suspension, expired registration, and speeding.

Bail was set at $25,000.
