Ruston volleyball sweeps competitive Loyola

Ruston High volleyball won in three sets Thursday night at home against Loyola in a very competitive match up by final scores of 25-15, 25-23, and 25-23.

“This was a great match for us going into the weekend,” Ruston head coach Lucie Hunt said after the victory. “We have a very stacked schedule this weekend. A lot of great teams that are very, very competitive. This was great for us to get going. Loyola has great position players; their setter is amazing. 

The Lady Bearcats led in the first set 13-12 before pulling away with an 8-1 run to lead 21-13. A service ace at the end gave Ruston a 25-23 win.

The second set saw Ruston go on a 6-0 run to extend a lead to 18-12. Loyola pulled back in, but Ruston was able to hold on 25-23. The third set went in a similar fashion before Ruston finished with a 25-23 win to improve their record to 10-2 on the season.

Today also begins the Bearcat Brawl tournament which will feature teams from all over the state.
 
“We are lucky to have teams coming from Bossier, West Monroe, Sulphur, the Baton Rouge Area, and the New Orleans area,” Hunt added. “This is a major tournament for our team and our school.”
 
The tournament will be held at the Ruston Sports Complex indoor facility. The schedule is attached below.
