A Ruston man was arrested Monday night after his vehicle was stopped for a fictitious temporary license tag.
Ruston Police stopped Kendrick Harris, 30, on West Alabama Ave. after an officer observed that the temporary license tag on the vehicle appeared to be fictitious. Harris stated he had never been issued a driver’s license and the vehicle did not belong to him so he could not produce relevant paperwork.
While speaking with Harris, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A record check indicated Ruston City Court held two warrants for Harris for failing to appear in court for prior no driver’s license and excessive noise citations. Harris was arrested and a search of the vehicle yielded suspected marijuana in four separate bags, a large amount of empty plastic bags consistent with packaging narcotics, and a digital scale.
Harris denied he sells marijuana but conceded the amount of the substance along with the other items could be misconstrued to indicate he does. The search also yielded another fictitious temporary tag that had expired two months earlier.
Harris was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, no driver’s license, fictitious license plate, and the two warrants.
