Deputies with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office resolved a burglary investigation within hours of learning of a Second Street break-in just outside Ruston.
LPSO responded to a burglary after a neighbor reported seeing a man leave her neighbor’s house carrying several TVs. The victim said his back door had been kicked in and flatscreen televisions and other items had been taken.
The witness provided a name and address of the suspect and deputies went to a Hickory Street residence to locate Dexter Dimmer. Dimmer was eventually located on the porch of a Third Street home, but he ran into the woods upon seeing the LPSO vehicle.
After a short foot chase, Dimmer, 58, of Ruston, was taken into custody. Two TVs, one belonging to the burglary victim, were recovered at the Third Street residence. The second TV was traced to a theft victim on Pecan Street. A second TV belonging to the burglary victim was found outside the Pecan Street home.
Dimmer stated he broke into the house because he had not had his medicine.
As Dimmer was being transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, he stated he was going to “get us,” referring to deputies. He was booked for simple burglary, resisting an officer, simple criminal damage to property, theft, and public intimidation.
