Altercation on I-20 draws motorist’s attention

A Bossier City man was arrested Friday after reports of an altercation at roadside on Interstate 20.

At about 7:00 a.m. Friday, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned motorist about a man attempting to hit a woman on Interstate 20 near milepost 74.

When deputies arrived, they saw a man standing at the window of a vehicle talking to someone inside. The woman in the car said she and Charles Jones, 21, had gotten into a verbal argument while she was driving. She said she could not focus on driving so she pulled over and got out of the car and started walking on the shoulder. She said Jones then came up behind her and grabbed her around the waist attempting to get her back into the car. She said she struggled with Jones and eventually fell to the ground.

Deputies saw that the victim’s leg was extremely scraped up due to her fall on the ground. The victim’s lip was injured but she would not provide information on how that occurred.

When questioned, Jones stated, “whatever she said happened is what happened.” He initially said nothing physical occurred but then admitted pulling the victim back to the car.

Jones was arrested for battery of a dating partner and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
