A number of Lincoln Parish swimmers competed and represented their respective high schools at the Red River Conference Championships this past Saturday at the Lambright Intramural center on the Louisiana Tech University campus in Ruston.
Although the swimmers weren’t swimming for the Bulldog Aquatic Club this past weekend, their BAC coach Rock Smith said he was proud of how they competed.
“The athletes had a great meet,” said Smith. “They have worked hard and swam well. This was a great dress rehearsal for the state high school meet in two weeks.”
The Red River Conference represents swimmers from all schools (except Pineville) located from Alexandria north to the Arkansas-Louisiana state line. It’s one of four conference championships held within the state, including the Capital City Championships (Baton Rouge area), the New Orleans Metro Championships and the Lafayette Conference Championships (Pineville, Lafayette area, and all schools west to the Texas state line).
A total of 21 schools were represented at the Red River Championships, including Lincoln Parish swimmers from Ruston High, Cedar Creek and Choudrant.
Some of the top performers included Top 3 finishes by McKenzie Jones (3rd – 200 Freestyle), Camdyn Napper (1st — Breaststroke), Jack Croce (3rd — 500 Freestyle), Kate Boersma (1st — 50 Freestyle), Karalin Hoover (2nd — 100 Breaststroke), Emma Huenefeld (2nd — 50 Freestyle), Sadie Huenefeld (1st — 200 Freestyle, 2nd — 100 Backstroke), Adam Campbell (2nd — 200 Individual Medley, 3rd — 100 Backstroke) and Owen Frick (1st — 100 Butterfly, 2nd — 500 Freestyle).
