
A Monroe man was arrested on the Grambling State University campus Saturday after he was found with drugs and a handgun.
GSU Police received a call Saturday evening regarding a man with a firearm on campus. The witness told officers the man gestured that he had a gun in his vehicle. A vehicle description was obtained, and the area was canvassed.
The vehicle was located, and the driver was identified as Gary W Manning, 41, of Monroe. A search of the car located marijuana, an open alcoholic beverage container, and a handgun.
A record check indicated Gerald Manning had numerous prior felonies including aggravated assault with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among others.
Manning was not a student and has no affiliation with the university. He was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of a firearm in a school zone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance of a drug free zone, and open container.
Bail was set at $102,500.
