Louisiana Tech makes its first road trip of the 2022-23 season when it faces nationally ranked Texas Tech tonight at 7 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.

The contest can be heard on 107.5 FM and the LA Tech Athletics app with Malcolm Butler providing the play-by-play call of the contest between the two programs. It can also be seen streamed live on ESPN+.

LA Tech (1-0) opened the season with a 78-61 victory over the Choctaws of Mississippi College.  The Bulldogs built as much as a 24-point lead in the second half, forcing 22 total turnovers in the contest and turning those into 24 points.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures including Keaston Willis (20), Cobe Williams (16), Jordan Crawford (15) and Isaiah Crawford (12).  For Willis, it was the 18th 20-point game of his collegiate career (fifth as a Bulldog).  Williams notched double-digit points for the 21st time in his last 27 games played.

Monday will be the first of 15 true road games for the Bulldogs, the most since the 2014-15 season and the most of any Conference USA team this season.  It will also be a homecoming for three staff members as head coach Talvin Hester and assistant coach Darshawn McClellan were both members of the Red Raiders basketball staff in 2021-22 while direct of basketball operations Brooke Reed spent nine seasons as part of the Red Raiders softball staff.

Texas Tech (2-0) has won 23 straight games at home, the second longest active streak in the country behind only Gonzaga.  Two of those wins have come this season in dominating fashion, defeating Northwestern State, 73-49, and Texas Southern, 78-54.

The Red Raiders, who are ranked 25th in the country after coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last season, have allowed their first two opponents to score an average of 51.5 points while shooting just 32 percent from the field (Texas Tech ranked No. 1 in defensive efficiency rating last season).

Monday will mark the 10th all-time meeting in the series as LA Tech trails Texas Tech, 7-2.  The two squads first faced off twice during the 1939-40 season.

The first win by the Bulldogs over the Red Raiders happened in 1982 when Karl Malone scored a team-high 18 points in route to a 66-60 victory in Ruston.  The second win came in Lubbock when Paul Millsap registered 29 points and 14 rebounds in a 68-53 victory in 2005.
