
A traffic stop by Ruston Police Wednesday ended with the arrest of a 29-year-old man on drug and weapon charges.
Anterrious Reed of Ruston was stopped on La. Highway 33 Wednesday night for equipment violations. When an officer approached the driver, a strong odor of raw marijuana was detected, and a clear bag of suspected marijuana was seen on the passenger seat.
A search of the vehicle found a bag containing approximately 20 suspected MDMA (ecstasy) tablets inside the driver side door. A Glock pistol, digital scales, additional suspected MDMA, and a large bag of marijuana were found during the search.
A check of the pistol’s serial number revealed it had been stolen in Texas.
Read was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA (ecstasy) with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a controlled substance felony, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Law (drug free zone—church).
