FLASH RECAP: Ruston girls win season opener at Benton

Ruston High’s girls’ basketball team won their season opener on the road Monday night against Benton by a final score of 41-36.

“I am extremely proud of the effort and intensity that we played with tonight,” Ruston head coach Meredith Graf said. “Benton is a quality opponent and are always well coached. It wasn’t the prettiest win but for our first game and for it to be on the road I was pleased. We will celebrate tonight but will quickly turn the page for a doubleheader with the boys versus Minden Tuesday night at home.”

Junior Zaccheya Jackson led Ruston with 11 points on the night.

Both Ruston varsity teams will play their home openers Tuesday against Minden.

Tip off for the varsity girls will be at 5:30 p.m., while the boys will tip off at 7 p.m.
