Holiday events are filling the calendar, creating plenty of options to fellowship, shop, and enjoy the season.

Downtown Ruston’s Holiday Open House is slated for today from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Participating businesses include  Ruston Golf Company, Boutique Barr, Park Haus, The Fashion of Ruston, David Hedgepeth Interiors, Embellishments, Chessy’s Boutique, Patton’s Downtown, Cotton Top Print Shop, Creative Exchange, FanBase, Garden Baby, The Collective: Ruston, Goldie Boutique, Lilburn’s Boutique, The Children’s Shoppe, and Creatives at Work.

Support local businesses and enjoy a meal in one of the downtown restaurants during this wonderful shopping opportunity.

Mark your calendars so you don’t miss the 8th Annual Lincoln Lights Up the Pines scheduled for December 1-3 from 5:30 to10:00 p.m. The Drive-Thru Christmas Lights Display in Lincoln Parish Park is one of the area’s most popular holiday events.

2023 will mark the 150th anniversary of the creation of Lincoln Parish. Stay tuned to the Lincoln Parish Journal for information on the celebration planned for next year. Citizens, businesses, and organizations will have opportunities to become involved in the festivities.

Local social media seems dominated by lost dogs, found dogs, football, and critiques of fast food restaurants.

In 1939, the Maxwell family built the Lincoln Motor Hotel Courts on East Georgia Avenue as individual cabins with attached garages. Countless vacationers, traveling businessmen, and celebrities stayed there in its heyday. After 83 years, the buildings are coming down.

The week before Christmas will bring a rare chance to see classic Christmas movies on the big screen as they were meant to be seen! Garden Baby and the Dixie Center for the Arts are presenting A Christmas Movie Series 7:00 p.m. nightly December 19-23.

Five movies will be shown on five consecutive nights for $5 each. Admission to each film includes 1 drink and 1 popcorn; additional drinks and popcorn may be purchased.
