Louisiana Tech looks to put an end to its three-game losing skid when it travels to Houston to face Rice in a three-game conference series starting with a 6:30 p.m first pitch tonight.

Friday is set for 6:30 p.m. while Saturday is set for 2 p.m.

All three games can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on 97.7 FM and the LA Tech Athletics app.

LA Tech (14-15, 4-5) is coming off a heartbreaking 8-7 loss at Northwestern State, a game that lasted almost four hours after taking 13 innings to decide.

The Bulldogs are just 3-7 in road games this season, but did win two of three at WKU to claim that league road series.

Rice (14-15, 5-4) is also trying to put an end to a three-game losing streak, having dropped the final two games of its road series at Florida Atlantic as well as a 14-13 slugfest with crosstown rival Houston.

Rice is 7-5 at home and has won one of its three conference series, sweeping UAB in Birmingham.  The Owls took one of three in their series with UTSA and FAU.

Rice leads the all-time series over LA Tech, 43-19.  Despite the Owls having a sizeable edge in the series, the Bulldogs have won the last seven meetings.  They swept the three-game series in Ruston last season and swept the four-game series in Houston in 2021.

Softball

After a one and a half week hiatus from C-USA action, the Louisiana Tech Softball team resumes its league slate by traveling to Birmingham to face UAB in a three-game series.

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the series will begin with a doubleheader slated to start this morning at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Bowers Field.

Louisiana Tech (22-15, 4-5) is coming off a thrilling 5-4 win at ULM in 10 innings.

Pitching has been the story this season for the Lady Techsters, as they hold a team ERA of 1.91 in 252.2 innings pitched. LA Tech is among the nation’s leaders in double plays per game, turning 0.61 a contest.

Scoring first has been a significant factor in the Techsters’ success this year, as they have posted a 20-2 record when doing so.

The Blazers (19-17, 7-5) are coming off a 2-1 series win over North Texas this past weekend. UAB won games one and three of the series, 1-0 and 6-3 while dropping game two, 4-0.

Louisiana Tech and UAB have met 27 times with Tech leading the series 18-9.  The Lady Techsters swept UAB last year in Ruston by scores of 9-1, 4-3 and 3-2.  Tech is 9-5 all-time in Birmingham
