Police hunt thief in snatch-and-run

Ruston Police are attempting to identify a man who jumped the counter at a local convenience store and stole money from the cash register.

About 2:00 a.m. Wednesday, the clerk at the USA Travel Plaza at 1703 Farmerville Highway opened the cash register for a transaction. An unidentified man jumped onto the count and grabbed money from the cash drawer.

The man left the scene in a small black automobile traveling north on La. Highway 33.

The suspect was described by Ruston Police as a black male, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall wearing a mask over his mouth. He was captured on video during the incident.

Tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible to received a cash reward up to $5,000 for information.
