Motorist charged with drug charges

Louisiana Tech Police arrested a man on drug charges Saturday after he was stopped for operating a vehicle with a switched license plate.

About 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Demetrious N. Winzer, 31, of Athens, La., was stopped after a Tech police officer learned the license plate on a Toyota was registered to a Lincoln Towncar.

Winzer got out of the car and began pacing back and forth waving his arms and stating he had no insurance and an open container in the car. While Winzer was pacing, he threw down several plastic bags that were later found to contain suspected marijuana and ecstasy.

A search of the car located an electronic scale typically used to weigh narcotics and a opened cold Bud Light beer car in the center cup holder.

Winzer was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, open container, and switched license plate.

Bail was set at $50,000.
