A Grambling man was arrested for resisting an officer Monday after he allegedly refused commands from Ruston Police during an investigation.
An officer responded to a Courtney Avenue residence regarding a man the caller wanted removed from the location. When the officer approached the residence, the man was seen turning and walking behind the residence. The man reached into tall weeds around a fallen tree where the officer could not see what he was doing.
Numerous commands were given for him to show his hands, but he failed to comply. Fearing the man was reaching for a weapon, the officer deployed a Taser which had little effect on the man. He continued looking on the ground and started to reach for something when he looked away from the officer who was able to gain control of him. The man’s hands were secured, and he was placed under arrest for resisting an officer.
Mario Lewis, 39, was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Bail was set at $1,000.
