Seven Grambling State University baseball student-athletes have been selected to take part in the 2023 MLB HBCU Swingman Classic, which will be held during MLB All-Star Week at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, on July 7. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network at 7:30 p.m. (PST), 9:30 p.m. (CST).

Phillip Bryant, Cameron Bufford, Trevor Hatton, Keanu Jacobs-Guishard, Keylon Mack, Lorenzo Petersen and Kyle Walker will represent GSU in the contest.

The HBCU Swingman Classic will highlight the history and legacy of HBCU baseball programs while also providing 50 HBCU baseball players with the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage. The student-athletes have been selected by a committee that will include Griffey Jr., representatives from MLB and MLBPA, and scouts. They will participate in a variety of MLB All-Star Week and general community-focused activities.

The HBCU Swingman Classic presented by T-Mobile joins the annual Hank Aaron Invitational as youth-oriented and diversity-focused programs powered by the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation.
