To turn a village into a family, everyone must come to each other’s needs.
Choudrant Happenings is a Facebook page created six years ago to bring the residents of their small town together to work as a team.
Residents use this page to easily spread the news between each citizen such as lost or found pets, sales, events or new renovations in the area. If someone has a question about anything, then the other members are quick to answer.
“I interviewed a number of older people many years ago and created a CD of the history of Choudrant with old pictures that I collected and also of the people. I gave a copy to Louisiana Tech and also to the Lincoln Parish Library,” Wayne Coker, a member of the page, said.
Since the community has a mutual connection with the area and the schools, it helps them feel united as a family.
“I love to see posts about family-friendly events,” said another member, Patricia Vining. “We have four kids so it’s really fun to know about ways to get us all out and socialize with others in our community and get to know our kids’ school friends’ parents. We have built lasting friendships having these opportunities.
Choudrant Happenings is a place where they can help one another, new or old, Vining added.
“It really does take a village. I wasn’t born or raised here but everyone really has been so welcoming,” Vining said.
Obviously, not everyone who lives in Choudrant is involved in this page; however, they are still willing to help through connections.
“I have contact information from someone with several pieces of Choudrant history,” said resident Pat Klountz.
Choudrant Happenings made it possible for the residents to come together and bond over the connection of their home.
