Three people were arrested last Monday after the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a Kirkland Street residence in Ruston.
Dwight O. Armstrong, 56, Shane Simmons, 38, and Edwina Scroggins, 44, all of Ruston, were taken into custody during the raid.
Simmons was taken into custody in the backyard where he had been seen sitting in an abandoned SUV. After he complied with commands to lay down on the ground so he could be handcuffed, two plastic baggies of synthetic marijuana and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe were found on the ground nearby. A search of the vehicle Simmons had been sitting in revealed a bag of methamphetamine and another smoking pipe.
Armstrong, when approached by officers, was seen throwing an object away. The object, a black plastic box, was found nearby containing powdered cocaine and a plastic bag of crack cocaine.
A search of Armstrong revealed a set of digital scales. A search of Armstrong’s room led to the discovery of methamphetamine in the closet.
Scroggins was taken into custody on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
Simmons was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of synthetic marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $40,000.
Armstrong was booked for possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine, along with warrants for failure to appear in court on charges of possession of stolen things, failure to return a rented or leased motor vehicle, and domestic abuse battery. Bail on the drug offenses was set at $40,000.
