Lincoln Parish Journal co-Publisher Malcolm Butler has been nominated for a Golden Mic Award by Extra Innings Softball.
Butler, who just completed his 25th season calling LA Tech events for the LA Tech Radio Network and his 20th year to broadcast Lady Techster Softball, is one of six individuals nominated for the Best College Softball Radio Personality.
Extra Innings Softball is considered by most the top content provider in the country for NCAA college softball.

Butler is the lone non-Power 5 nominee in the category which includes Brian Rice (Tennessee), Chris Plank (Oklahoma), DJ Sanchez (Oklahoma), Mattie Fowler Burkhardt (Nebraska) and Tom Canterbury (Alabama).

The current Voice of Bulldog football and men’s basketball also serves as the sport administrator for Lady Techster softball with part of his responsibilities including serving as the play-by-play voice for home and road games.
Butler won the 2022 Golden Mic for the Radio Play-by-Play Call of the Year with his call of Katelin Cooper’s walk-off, bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the seventh inning in the regular season finale that gave the Lady Techsters the Conference USA regular season title.
During his broadcasting career he has also placed six times in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association College Broadcaster of the Year, including capturing the top honor in 2017 and the runner-up for the award in 2013 and 2016.
