CUSA, WAC unveil two-year scheduling matchup in hoops

Conference USA and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) have unveiled the team match-ups for the first edition of a two-year scheduling initiative between the two leagues.

As part of this collaboration, a total of 36 games (18 in each gender) across both men’s and women’s basketball will be contested in 2023-24 featuring CUSA members matching up against WAC counterparts.

On the men’s side, Louisiana Tech will play at Seattle and host Southern Utah. On the women’s side, the Lady Techsters will host Cal Baptist and travel to Abilene Christian. Dates and times have not been released yet.

Other key match-ups on the men’s basketball side include Sam Houston (#69 in the final 2022-23 NET) visiting the defending WAC champion Grand Canyon and hosting Utah Valley (#58). Liberty (#46) is set to host Grand Canyon and will travel to Utah Valley. Sam Houston and Liberty were each awarded at-large bids to the NIT last season.

Highlighting the women’s basketball match-ups is reigning CUSA champion Middle Tennessee (#33) hosting 2022 WAC Champion and 2023 WNIT participant Stephen F. Austin (#68). Liberty will visit SFA, and defending WAC champion Southern Utah is slated to travel to UTEP and host WKU. Both the Miners and Hilltoppers earned at-large bids to the WNIT in 2023.
