Domestic incident results in injury, slashed tires

A local man was arrested Monday after complaints he assaulted a woman, stole her cellphone, and slashed her tires.

Deputies were dispatched to a Heard Road residence regarding a theft complaint. The victim said Trendon A. Several witnesses were present when the incident occurred.

The victim said Drayton was an ex-boyfriend, but they had been separated for several months. Deputies were unable to locate Drayton.

Later Monday morning, deputies returned to the residence after a complaint Drayton had slashed all four tires on the victim’s car, struck her in the face, and splashed bleach in her face. Deputies saw that the victim’s right eye was discolored and swollen and a bleach bottle was found in the yard.

While deputies were speaking with the victim, Drayton pulled up to the residence. He was placed under arrest. The cell phone and car keys that had been taken earlier were found in Drayton’s possession and returned to the victim.

After the arrest was made, the victim told deputies she had changed her mind and did not want to press changes. Since the incident was related to domestic violence, Louisiana law requires an arrest when law enforcement has probable cause that an offense has occurred.

Drayton was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft, simple criminal damage to property, and battery of a dating partner. His bail amount was not immediately available.
