Frances Ineta “Fran” Dugdale

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Ineta “Fran” Dugdale, age 85 of Choudrant, LA will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 27, 2023 in the sanctuary of Alabama Presbyterian Church near Choudrant with Rev. Allison Moody and Ricky Edmiston officiating. Burial will follow in the Sibley Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Franes was born October 21, 1937 in Ruston to Thomas and Leslie Templeton Pilgreen Aulds and passed away August 23, 2023 in West Monroe, LA. Due to job seeking, she and her parents moved to Alabama. Frances attended school in Alabama from first grade until her junior year of high school before she returned to Ruston and graduated from Ruston High School in 1955. She attended business school in Monroe, LA. During this time, Franes met her husband to be Curtis Dugdale. After Curtis’s graduation, they married November 21, 1956. The two celebrated 62 years of marriage together until his death November 2, 2018. Mrs. Fran was a devoted wife and partner. She was a wonderful mother of three and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Fran took on the role of a farmer’s wife. She spent most of her younger days milking cows and raising chickens and, not to mention, the amount of peas that she picked and canned. There were peas at every meal, and Mrs. Fran always had a meal on the stove. She always had lunch prepared for the workers coming out of the hay field. Mrs. Fran and Curtis owned and operated Ruston Farm Implements for 19 years and then resigned back to the chicken houses. She was a member of Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant. In her younger years, Mrs. Fran was an active member of Vacation Bible School and the Women’s Circle. She was an Adult 4-H leader and was involved in school FFA programs and participated in Home Demonstration programs as a leader. Mrs. Fran was very supportive of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; step-father Hayward Aulds; step-sister Anne and husband Thurman Holstead; and brothers-in-law Joe Dugdale and Eddie Hammons.

Frances is survived by her children: Tommy Dugdale and wife Cindy, Cindy and husband Clay Alexander and Duane Dugdale and wife Becky; 10 grandchildren: Lesley and husband Tyler Luttrell, Cari and husband Cody Burton, David Lee Alexander and wife Chelsea, Wyatt Alexander and wife Ashlee, Dakota Alexander wife Hatti, Dusty Dugdale and wife Breezy, Molly and husband Will Carter, Hunter Dugdale and wife Melinda, Lenae and husband Shane Bell and Jason Owens and wife April; 18 great-grandchildren: Teegan, Lawson, Caeden, Reilyr, Gracie, Peyton, Liam, Brooks, Reese, Garrison, McClaine, Kolten, Tate, Magnolia, Emma, Alyssa, Lane and Landry; step-sister Linda and husband Eddie Edwards; sisters-in-law: Glenda Dugdale, Bertie Hammons and Judy and husband Jimmy Williams; brother-in-law James Dugdale and wife Mary; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: David Lee Alexander, Wyatt Alexander, Dakota Alexander, Tyler Luttrell, Cody Burton, Dusty Dugdale, Hunter Dugdale and William Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sibley Cemetery or to Douglas Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2023 in the Family Life Center of Alabama Presbyterian Church.
