Episcopal Church of the Redeemer holding free lecture series

This is an advertorial.

Episcopal Church of the Redeemer is hosting a free lecture and discussion series beginning Sunday, Sept. 17, weekly through Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:05 a.m.

The Gospel According to Mark is the oldest gospel in the New Testament. As such, it is one of the documents closest in time to the historical person Jesus of Nazareth. The Gospel of Mark was written in about A.D. 70 and Jesus most likely lived from 6-5 B.C. to A.D. 33.

We will meet on eight Sunday mornings, on the dates indicated above, in Haskell Hall at the Church of the Redeemer. We are located at 504 Tech Drive, across from the Louisiana Tech University’s Institute for Micro-Manufacturing.

The class will be taught by the Rev. Frank W. Hughes, our Priest-in-Residence. A native of Texarkana, Dr. Hughes was ordained in 1981, and he received his Ph.D. in New Testament from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars, and the Society of New Testament Studies.

We invite adults and young adults to participate in this class.
