Motorist found with stolen gun, marijuana

A Ruston man was arrested Monday after he was found with stolen pistol and marijuana on a traffic stop.

A Lincoln Parish deputy sheriff stopped Tristan Sampson, 20, about 2 a.m. Monday morning for an equipment violation. During the course of the stop, a search was conducted of the vehicle, yielding marijuana and digital scales in a backpack. A Smith & Wesson .40 pistol found in the center console was determined to have been stolen in Ruston. 


Sampson was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen firearm, and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Bail was set at $90,000.
