Suspect caught with drugs, cash, gun 

A convicted drug offender was arrested on numerous new charges after he was stopped in southeast Ruston Thursday morning. 

Chadarius L. Spencer, 30, was stopped for an expired vehicle registration on Martin Luther King Drive about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. While speaking to Spencer, a Ruston police officer smelled suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle. Spencer admitted he had a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. 

A search was conducted and marijuana, oxycodone. alprazolam, a Glock 9mm pistol. and approximately $5,000 in cash were located under the gear shifter of the vehicle. 

Spencer was also arrested on two warrants for distribution of cocaine based on an investigation by the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team. 


According to Spencer’s arrest report, he is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was convicted in 2021 for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of oxycodone. 

Spencer’s arrest occurred in a drug free zone based on its proximity to North Louisiana Medical Center. 

Spencer was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of the controlled substances drug free zone law, illegal carrying of weapons, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and the two warrants. 

Bail was set at $202,500.
