
Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie Ann Pfister, age 92 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Gil Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Bettie was born April 16, 1931 in Shreveport, LA to Mr. and Mrs. John M. Bauguss and passed away October 4, 2023 in Ruston. On March 12, 1940, a tornado destroyed her childhood home in Shreveport and hugely impacted her family. Bettie’s parents passed in the tornado that tore through their house. After the storm, she moved to and grew up in the Shreveport orphanage. Bettie graduated from Byrd High School in June of 1949. She continued her education at Louisiana Tech University where she graduated June of 1953 with a BA degree in commercial art. A month after graduation, Bettie married Robert J. Pfister in July of 1953. The pair moved to Tucson, AZ in spring of 1956 before moving to Ruston in spring of 1981. Bettie was a prolific pen and ink artist. She had drawings of area churches, historic Ruston area houses and Louisiana Tech University buildings. She sang in the local choir of Cook Baptist Church. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two daughters: Barbara Bishop and Pamela Pfister.
Bettie is survived by her son John Pfister and wife Barbara; three grandchildren: Virginia and husband Jeremiah Lee, Kristen and husband Ryan Dees and Charles “Chris” Dailey; four great-grandchildren: Sloane Lee, Brody Dees, Cait Dees and Parker Dees; and a host of other family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2023 at the funeral home.
