
Following an executive session that lasted for over three hours, the board of supervisors of the University of Louisiana System in a special meeting voted 12-1 to suspend board rule Chapter 3, Section 2, to move forward with interviewing Dr. Jim Henderson to be the next president of Louisiana Tech University.
The yes votes were Barry Busada, Jimmy Clarke, Steve Davison, Jo’Quishia Lethermon, Alejandro Perkins, Elizabeth Pierre, Dana Peterson, Virgil Robinson, Mark Romero, Kristine Russell, Brad Stevens, and Bailey Willis.

Chapter 3, Section 2 reads: for all appointments to vacancies in the chief executive position at any institution under the jurisdiction of the Board, three months’ written notice, or less at the option of the Board, shall be provided to the Board through the System President in order that all applicants who qualify may be given an official application and that the proper committee, after interviewing such applicants, may make recommendations to the Board for final selection.
A report late Sunday evening by Greg Hilburn in the Shreveport Times stated that Dr. Jim Henderson, the current president of the ULS, would be named the new Louisiana Tech president following a vote.
However, the special meeting concluded at 2:37 p.m. with no new president in place; instead, electing by 12-1 to interview Henderson for the position of president on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
