Louisiana Tech will host Liberty in the CUSA Championships semifinals tonight at 7 p.m. at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.

The contest can be seen streamed live on ESPN+.

The No. 6 seeded Bulldogs (5-10-3) pulled a 1-0 upset over the No. 3 seeded WKU Hilltoppers on Wednesday night to advance to the semifinal round. Kalli Matlock scored the lone goal of the contest in the 40th minute.

“This was the best complete game I’ve seen us play,” said Tech head coach Steve Voltz following the win Wednesday. “It was just fun, I barely got up and coached or we barely substituted it was literally if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. We were invested that we changed a couple of things tactically from the last time we played them and it worked.

“We won a couple of corner kicks that we needed that’s how they scored on us the last time we played. We made a couple of small changes, and the players bought in, and that’s just the way they defended in our final third. They weren’t even letting them out pressing and winning 50/50 balls and keeping majority of the play down on their end.”

The reward for the win is a match tonight against the No. 2 seed Liberty (14-2-1), who earned a first round bye with its regular season finish. The Flames defeated Tech 4-1 just over a week ago in the regular season finale played in Ruston.

“I am excited we get to do this in front of our fans on Friday against a good Liberty squad, who one of the elite teams in the country,” said Voltz.

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth at the front entrance of the facility.

The day’s first semifinal match-up will start at 4:30 p.m. and will pit regular season champion New Mexico State against No. 5 seed Sam Houston State.
