Curry named principal of Dubach School

Lincoln Parish hit a home run with the hire of Tiffany Curry as principal of Dubach School.

First hired as interim principal in July of 2022, Curry will now deservedly have the interim tag removed on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, and was formally recognized at the December school board meeting Tuesday night.

“I never saw a difference in being interim principal and principal, and I just went there and worked and did my job every single day,” Curry said. “And I continue to work and do my job every single day. And I hope it continues to give us the benefits.”

For Lincoln Parish School Board superintendent Ricky Durrett, Curry has been a shining star in the parish in guiding Dubach School from a D score when she arrived to most recently a B.

“I think Tiffany has done a great job up there Dubach; not just with the school but also with the community and trying to get kids back in school that maybe had left and gone somewhere else,” Durrett said. “She also has been involving the Boys and Girls Club for some afterschool tutoring and day care for people that were wanting to send their kids to school there but just didn’t have anywhere for. So I think just bringing that whole community together; really she’s done a great job with that, not just the school part.”

Curry was named the interim principal and replaced Michelle Thrower originally after serving as Thrower’s assistant for a brief period.

“I just think we’re blessed to have her up there,” District 6 LPSB member Donna Doss said. “She has got the morale of the teachers up. The kids love her. The community loves her. And what else could you ask for? I mean, this is a time of celebration. And I just we have been so blessed to have her. I thank God for her.”

A graduate of Grambling State University in 2003, Curry is excited to continue to shape and educate the minds at her school.

“I believe that every child can learn,” Curry said. “And when I walked into Dubach, their motto was “Every child, every day.” From the first day that I stepped on campus, I said we have to do that. And that means all kids, not just some kids. So that’s what we really pushed, teaching all of our children the curriculum, no matter what they come with, what they don’t.”
