Funeral services for Linda Jean Ferguson Skipper, age 80, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA with Rev. Leroy Skipper officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel.
Linda was born December 14, 1942 in Ruston, La to Marvin Colquet Ferguson and Effie Mae Pye Ferguson. She passed away December 4, 2023 with her two remaining sons by her side in Monroe, La.
Linda worked at the Ruston Daily Leader for many years delivering papers. She always enjoyed taking trips, whether it be tagging along with her late son, Tony Skipper, wherever his job would take them or exploring mountains such as the ones in Colorado that she adored so much. You could catch Linda with her nose in a classic country western book quite often.
Linda is preceded in death by her brothers: Elton Ferguson and Bud Ferguson; Sisters: Alma “Sis” Hogan and Sybil Snipes; Daughter: Penny Woodham; son: Tony Skipper; Granddaughter Kristy Skipper.
Linda is survived by her sons: William Keith “Skip” Skipper (Gloria) of West Monroe, LA, Shane Skipper (Jennifer Morgan) of Swartz, LA; Sisters: Mary Ann Williams of Ruston, LA, Barbara Ann Tibbs (James) of Ruston, LA; son-in-law, Johnny Woodham; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Skipper, Christopher Theodos, Garrett Skipper, Devon Skipper, Jeff Ferguson, and Scott Ferguson.
The family would like to thank all of the medical staff at Ochsner LSU Health hospital whom helped keep her comforted until she decided to go rest high on that mountain. We will always have Linda on our minds and in our hearts.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until service time Thursday at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
