Texas man arrested for DWI, speeding 113 mph

A Louisiana State Police trooper arrested a Dallas, Texas, man Saturday after he was clocked at 113 miles per hour on Interstate 20 near Choudrant.

After Gustavo Santillano, 34, was clocked by radar, he was observed swerving from one lane to another before stopping. Santillano told troopers that he had smoked methamphetamine and marijuana earlier in the day. He admitted marijuana and bags with possible meth residue were inside the vehicle.

A trooper retrieved a bag of marijuana from the center console of the vehicle. Santillano performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested.

At the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, a breath test showed no alcohol in Santillano’s sample. He was taken to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center where a blood sample was drawn for lab analysis.

A check showed Santillano was wanted by the Austin Pardon and Parole Board on a warrant for assault on a public servant.

Santillano was booked for first offense DWI, possession of marijuana, and improper lane usage.
