After an exceptional performance by true freshman Ahmad Hudson on Friday, the No. 8 Ruston Bearcats (18-9) will host the No. 9 H.L. Bourgeois Braves (22-10) out of Gray, La., tonight at 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
“We have a tremendous amount of respect for Bourgeois,” Ruston head coach Ryan Bond said. “They have a very good senior guard that can shoot the ball and is also a very dangerous driver. They are very athletic and do a great job of defending.
“We need a big crowd to come out and get behind our guys.”
Bond’s Bearcats most recently ran the Barbe Buccaneers out of the gym in their opening round matchup, with Hudson dropping 19 points, grabbing 14 board and swatting six shots. Ruston would cruise to a 62-34 win.
H.L. Bourgeois had its hands full with in a tight match Friday with Central Lafourche, winning 67-64. The Braves were district champs this past season in 7-5A, a district in the New Orleans area of the state.
Tip off is set for 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym. Admission will be $10 at the door and only cash will be accepted.
For those who cannot attend the game in-person, a livestream will be available at http://www.bearcatnationnetwork.com
