Tech softball celebrates seniors, earns No. 3 seed in CUSA Tournament

The 2024 Conference USA Softball Championship bracket has been set as Louisiana Tech will be the No. 3 seed and face sixth-seeded UTEP on Wednesday, May 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the New Mexico State Softball Complex in Las Cruces, N.M.

Tech (31-20) celebrated its 10-member senior class Saturday following the final game of its three-game CUSA series against FIU. Tech won game two of the series 5-1, but dropped games one and games three by identical scores of 3-2.

K.B. Briley, Katelin Cooper, Brooke Diaz, Caroline Easom, Olivia Ellingson, Emma Hutchinson, Jordyn Manning, Lauren Menzina, Kyle Neel, and Gentry Spinks were all honored for their dedication to the Bulldog softball program.

The newly restructured six-team tournament is double-elimination up to a winner-take all championship game. Liberty (No. 1 Seed) and WKU (No. 2 Seed) both earned first-round byes.

With a win over the Miners, the Bulldogs would take on No. 2 WKU on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The losers of the New Mexico State vs. Jacksonville State and LA Tech vs. UTEP games would meet on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Bulldogs will be the home team in the opening round contest with the Miners.
