Louisiana Tech dropped the series against New Mexico State in Las Cruces this weekend.

Louisiana Tech (35-15, 12-5 CUSA) won 18-4 on Friday before falling 16-15 in 12 innings on Saturday and 12-6 to New Mexico State (23-24, 9-12 CUSA) on Sunday.

With the two losses, Tech moves into a two-way tie with Dallas Baptist for second place in the CUSA standings, one game behind WKU which Tech will host this weekend in a 3-game series at JC Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

Bulldog hitters belted 17 home runs over the three games, including five by Jorge Corona and three each by Ethan Bates and Dalton Davis.

On Sunday, Tech allowed seven runs in the first two innings after New Mexico State batted in three home runs, making it a 7-0 game. In the third inning, Tech got on the board following an Ethan Bates sacrifice flyout RBI, forcing Dalton Davis to cross home plate.

Next, in the fourth inning, Grant Comeaux cut the Aggies’ lead to four after he scored a two-run homer to left field. In the fifth inning, Michael Ballard picked up two runs for the Bulldogs following his two-run home run, cutting the game to 7-5.

However, New Mexico State answered with a homer from Damone Hale, extending their lead to 8-5. Eventually, the Aggies put the game out of reach when they scored runs on a pair of RBI singles, a Logan Gallina RBI double, and to finish it off with a Romeo Ballesteros home run.

However, Tech secured one more run after Ethan Bates picked up another RBI single that sent Kasten Furr home.
