Stow Creek area visited by car burglars

Vehicle burglaries continue to be one of the criminal’s methods of choice in taking others’ property after another Lincoln Parish neighborhood was struck Tuesday night.

Lt. Matt Henderson of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies took reports of three cases of vehicle burglary in the Stow Creek subdivision Wednesday morning.

In each case, the vehicles were left unlocked, Henderson said.

Vehicle burglaries have been a recurring problem for law enforcement in Ruston, Grambling, and Lincoln Parish with scores of thefts from mostly unlocked vehicles over the past several months. Even with some arrests recorded, the crimes have continued.

Fortunately, Henderson said, no firearms were stolen in this latest spate of burglaries.

Law enforcement has been encouraging vehicle owners to remove valuable and lock doors to deter vehicle burglars, even when parked in carports and garages. In the cases where surveillance video captured the suspects, it was found the crimes usually take place in the darkness of early morning hours.
