This Week in Lincoln Parish Schools

This week in Lincoln Parish Schools

The Lincoln Parish Journal is providing our local schools with an opportunity to submit nuggets from what’s going on at their respective schools in order to get more information out on their students, faculty and staff. The information below comes directly from those schools. Any school wishing to provide content each week can email to flynnhl@warhawks.ulm.edu

Elementary Schools

Choudrant

STEM students at Choudrant Elementary learned a valuable lesson on giving this holiday season. Oftentimes the holidays are stressful as you may not be able to afford gifts for everyone on your list. The 2nd grade students found a solution as they worked through the engineer design challenge to create slippers for their principal, Jennifer Martin. The students were proud of their slippers and excited to give them to their principal who gives so much to our school.

Thank you to our sponsors Origin Bank, GBT, O’Neal Gas, and Ascent for sponsoring our Tree Project. The 5th grade students have been experimenting with live Christmas trees to see which will survive the longest. We added sugar water, pond water, warm water, and Miracle-Gro and water to test. The students were put in business teams and created a business name and logo. They learned about the start-up cost of owning a business. We will go on to recycle the trees to support the aquatic ecosystem and learn about its benefits. This has been such a great learning opportunity for our students.

Simsboro

We had our annual 12 Days of Christmas assembly. Each grade sings the part that matches their grade level. It is a fun, school-wide event that we do every year! (Please attach the picture below to this)

We had our elementary Christmas program and Art Walk this week. It’s a great time for our Simsboro families to come together!

Happy Holidays from Simsboro School!
