Atticus Jones and Krystal Jeong will represent Cedar Creek at the Regional Spelling Bee at LSUS in March

This week in Lincoln Parish Schools

The Lincoln Parish Journal is providing our local schools with an opportunity to submit nuggets from what’s going on at their respective schools in order to get more information out on their students, faculty and staff. The information below comes directly from those schools. Any school wishing to provide content each week can email to flynnhl@warhawks.ulm.edu

6th Grade Christmas Showcase

Before dismissing for the Christmas holidays our sixth graders put on a spectacular Christmas Showcase!  Under the direction of Mrs. Miller and Miss Heiden, the students sang a variety of classic Christmas songs.  Students also recited ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore and showcased their individual talents by singing solos and by playing the piano, ukulele, and guitar.

We are proud of their hard work!

Christmas Lunch and Movie

Seventh & eighth grade students had their first annual Christmas Movie and Lunch event the day before dismissing for Christmas break.  These students traveled to Celebrity Theaters to watch The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.  They then traveled to Roma Italian Bistro for a delicious lunch of lasagna and fettuccine alfredo.  They walked to Railroad Park after lunch for a few group pictures before returning to campus.  A great time was had by all!

Fun Field Trips

Students in Mrs. Wynne’s Historical Documents class visited the North Louisiana Military Museum on Wednesday, January 8th.  Students in this elective class explore and dig deeper into United States documents. While using a variety of sources, students dissect documents and important events.  Their visit to the museum was enlightening and brought history to life as they toured the facility, viewing fascinating artifacts from each war in history dating as far back as the Civil War.  Students also enjoyed a delightful lunch at local restaurant, Ponchatoulas, where they dined on various Louisiana cuisine.

Mrs. Slocum’s Journalism elective visited the Ruston Daily Leader on Thursday, January 9th.  On this visit the students learned what it takes to be a back-to-back award-winning newspaper.  They were able to tour the facility and meet with employees in each department to learn about their jobs and the many publications the Ruston Daily Leader produces.

Toys for Tots

Ms. Harvey and Mrs. Hodge’s second grade students collected toys this holiday season.  These toys were donated to the Toys for Tots organization.  This program is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes these toys at Christmas to families in need.  We are thankful for teachers and parents who promote and encourage giving to those less fortunate.  We are proud of our Bullpups!
