Matlock, Taylor receive All-Louisiana Honorable Mentions

Fifth year defender Kalli Matlock and sophomore forward Kyra Taylor were named to the 2024 LSWA Collegiate Women’s Soccer All-Louisiana Team Honorable Mention List, per the LSWA’s release Saturday afternoon.

Natives of Shreveport and Longview, Texas, Matlock and Taylor were the only two players for Louisiana Tech to have started in all 17 matches, score three goals, tally six points, and take at least 20 shots. With the two Bulldogs receiving this accolade, it marks the third-straight season multiple Bulldogs have been tabbed with All-Louisiana honors.

“I’m thrilled for both Kalli and Kyra to get recognized,” head coach Steve Voltz said. “Especially for Kalli as a Louisiana native, it’s great to receive this recognition at the end of her career. Kyra has already earned a lot of recognition in her young career and we’re excited for more to come.”

Matlock, who has received All-Louisiana Honorable Mention recognitions for the third-straight season, saw the pitch for the full 90 minutes in three matches while also playing on a back line that saw five shutouts.

Two of her three goals scored came in the form of a pair of penalty kicks, with the second attempt being the equalizer in the 76th minute.

Taylor scored a pair of goals, one being a game-winner, in a comfortable 4-1 home victory over Jackson State for her fourth career multi-goal game. She was one of three Bulldogs to record at least 1,300 minutes on the year.

This was Taylor’s second-straight year receiving All-Louisiana honors, as she was First Team All-Louisiana and Louisiana Freshman of the Year in 2023.
