High Schools
Ruston
It’s a busy week in Bearcat Nation!
Today (1/24), the varsity boys and girls basketball team will take on Neville in Monroe at 7:00! This Saturday (1/25), the JV girls basketball team will play in the Acadiana MLK invitational.
This Saturday (1/25), the girls soccer team will take on Natchitoches Central at home at 10:00!
Also on Saturday (1/25), the varsity boys soccer team will play D’Arbonne Woods at home at 12:00!
Monday (1/27), the freshmen and JV boys basketball team will take on Red River at 6 at home!
On Tuesday (1/28), both the varsity girls and varsity boys basketball teams will play Gibsland Coleman at 7 at home!
On Wednesday (01/29), the freshman and JV basketball team will play West Monroe away at 5:00!
The teacher of the week is Mrs. Warner! Mrs. Warner has been teaching for 14 years, this being her 2nd year at RHS. She teaches U.S. History and World History. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Warner!
Simsboro

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Northeat Human Services Authority.
In case the event is rained out, the color run will not be rescheduled, and payments will not be refunded. Instead, the activity booth will be set up inside the Simsboro High School gym.
Middle Schools
AEP Middle School
On Tuesday, the Student Council had the privilege of visiting the office of Mayor Ronny Walker. During this visit students were invited to observe the weekly leadership meeting followed by a time with Mayor Walker where students were able to ask him questions pertaining to his position as mayor. We are grateful to Mayor Walker and his team for providing this opportunity for our students.
Elementary Schools
A.E. Phillips Elementary
Our fourth graders held a Vocabulary Parade on Thursday. This event is based on the book Miss Alaineus: A Vocabulary Disaster by Deborah Frazier. Parents and students enjoyed seeing the fourth graders dressed up in costumes representing their vocabulary words. A fun time was had by all!
In fifth grade students work hard to earn Accelerated Reading points. All the students who met their AR goal earned hot chocolate and some extra recess time. The top five earners were also awarded a Sonic drink of their choice. Those students were Eden Boydstun, Carlisle Hunt, Archer Geisman, Lila Watson, and Slade Young.
