Attempted murder suspect located on traffic stop
Ruston Police arrested a man wanted by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office for attempted murder last week.
Donnell Williams, 34, of Ruston was arrested January 24 on a traffic stop on a warrant charging him with attempted second-degree murder along with other charges.
Williams was stopped about 1:00 a.m. on January 24 after he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Vienna Street and Alabama Avenue. When a RPD supervisor made contact with him, Williams identified himself as James Conner.
When that name could not be confirmed, RPD was able to search various records and discover the driver was Donnell Williams who did not have a driver’s license and was wanted on a Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office case for attempted second-degree murder.
Williams was arrested on the attempted murder warrant as well as no driver’s license, expired license plate, careless operation of a vehicle, and resisting an officer by providing a false identity.
Bail for Williams was set at $502,000. Information on the attempted murder case was not received by publication time.
