A Ruston man was arrested last week after he raised suspicion by attempting to avoid a patrol officer.
Edmario Sowers, 33, was stopped by a RPD patrol supervisor about 2 a.m. Jan. 29. Sowers, wearing all camouflage clothing including a face mask, appeared nervous and attempted to avoid the officer while riding a bicycle on Cardinal Street.
A records check revealed Sowers was wanted for failure to appear in court on a failure to pay child support charge.
After the arrest, the officer discovered a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana on Sowers. According to the officer’s report, Sowers admitted the drugs were his.
When asked if he had anything else hidden on his body, Sowers said no, but once at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, the staff located an additional bag of methamphetamine.
Sowers was booked for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, and the child support warrant from Third Judicial District Court.
Bail on the drug charges was set at $3,500.
