One week after capturing a share of the district title, the Cedar Creek boys golf team took it one step further Wednesday, winning the Division IV regional title at Huntington Golf Club in Shreveport.
Alex Roebuck shot a one-over-par 73 to tie for the individual title while pacing the Cougars team total of 326. Cedar Creek edged Quitman (334) and Harrisonburg (338) for the team title, while Roebuck tied with Quitman’s Payton Nomey (73) for the individual title.
“I am very proud of our team,” said head coach Gene Vandenlangenberg. “The guys played with a lot of confidence today and accomplished one of our team goals by winning Regionals.”
In addition to Roebuck’s impressive performance on Wednesday, Cameron Temple added an 81 and Triston Floyd shot an 83. Paxton Burney shot an 89 while James Myers recorded a 93 for Cedar Creek.
Temple tied Quitman’s Noah Leach and Harrisonburg’s Ryan Fugua for third place.
The Cougars will compete in the state tournament May 5 and 6 at Cane Row Golf Club in New Iberia.
