Special report

NATCHITOCHES, La. — Ruston High’s boys’ Bearcat squad continued its tear through the 2025 postseason, taking first place at the 1-5A Region Championships while the girls had an impressive third place finish.

The Bearcats finished with 84 points with runner-up Parkway scoring 64. The Lady Bearcats finished with 74 points for third.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the grit, determination, and unity our Bearcat and Lady Bearcat Track and Field teams showed at the Region 1-5A Championships,” Ruston High head coach Trey Smith said. “Bringing home the team title on the boys’ side and a strong third-place finish from our girls is a testament to the relentless work these athletes have put in all season. From dominant individual wins to gritty relay efforts, every point counted—and every athlete contributed.

“We’re proud to qualify so many competitors for the state meet, and we’re not done yet. The bar is set, and we’re headed to Baton Rouge with momentum, confidence, and purpose.”

Bearcat Track and Field will be back in action at the State 5A Championships held at LSU on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
