The Ruston night sky will once again be lit up with a beautiful display of fireworks from the Temple Baptist Church community firework show Thursday (July 3). This free event, open to the public, will take place at nightfall on the church’s campus, bringing families and friends together in celebration.
Temple Baptist Church Senior Pastor Reggie Bridges emphasized the importance of coming together as a community for the Fourth of July.
“We are excited to be able to share the night with our community,” Bridges said. “Several businesses and church partners have helped us underwrite the show, and we are especially appreciative of them. We pray that as the sky is lit up with fireworks, that Jesus is the light that drives away darkness. May we reflect that light as we make a difference in our community and nation.”
The celebration began earlier last week with the church’s annual Love Lincoln Freedom Fest. Due to ongoing renovations, the event was relocated to Howard Auditorium this year. Despite the change in venue, the evening remained incredible, featuring a patriotic program filled with songs honoring the nation and recognizing servicemen and women from the local community.

A moving moment came when Mr. Sam Mattox, a 105-year-old World War II veteran and one of Louisiana’s oldest living veterans of World War II, was honored for his service. During the event, Mattox was presented with a U.S. flag on behalf of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and a proclamation of appreciation from the governor.
Bridges shared about the event and its purpose of reflecting on the blessing of freedom.
“It was a moment to stop and give thanks to God for how he has blessed us with such freedom in our nation,” he said. “Also, it was a time to give honor to whom honor is due, as we expressed gratitude to our veterans who the Lord used to secure that reality.”
Looking toward the Fourth of July weekend, residents across Lincoln Parish can look forward to the upcoming fireworks show, a symbol of freedom and the people who fought to protect it.
Sarah Roach, director of women’s ministries and children’s activities at Temple Baptist, shared her excitement for the event and what it means to her family.
“The Love Lincoln Fireworks at Temple is a highlight for my family every year. The firework show itself is incredible and not to be missed,” Roach said. “The only thing that makes it better is enjoying it with friends and family sitting on the back of a tailgate with dessert.”
Attendees are encouraged to gather on the Temple Baptist Church campus or along the South Service Road parking area to enjoy the festivities. With fireworks set to light up the Lincoln Parish sky, the display will serve as a memorable Independence Day celebration.
