Man in domestic charged with gun, drug crimes

A domestic disturbance in Ruston led to the arrest of a Shreveport man on drug and gun charges.

Marcus A. Milton, 48, was arrested June 28 after Ruston Police responded to a report of domestic abuse on Park Ridge Lane.

Responding officers met with a woman outside the apartment who stated she and her boyfriend Marcus Milton had a verbal argument. She said Milton shoved her several times and then went into the bedroom to pack his belongings. She said she heard Milton “rack” her firearm to chamber a round.

The woman said she ran from the bedroom door out of fear and called 911 and that her mother and three children were still inside the apartment.

Police were able to contact the mother and get her and the children out of the apartment.

Officers were then able to take Milton into custody. A bag of suspected cocaine was found on the bedroom floor. A Smith & Wesson pistol was found under a mattress.

Milton told police he and the woman had been in a verbal argument and he went in the bedroom to pack his belongings. He stated he never touched the firearm but admitted the cocaine belonged to him.

Milton was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of a firearm by convicted felon, domestic abuse aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance in the presence of minors.
