Ruston Police made what the agency is calling a significant drug arrest Saturday afternoon.
Charles Lamar Williams III, 30, of Ruston, was arrested Saturday afternoon after officers who knew he was wanted on warrants spotted him in a apartment complex parking lot. The investigation that followed the arrest lead to the recovery of a substantial amount of narcotics.
At about 4:43 p.m., officers were conducting routine patrols in the parking lot of a local apartment complex when they saw Williams seated inside a parked vehicle. Officers recognized Williams and were aware that he had active warrants for his arrest.
As officers awaited backup, Williams entered an apartment within the complex. Officers were able to locate the apartment, make contact with the residents, and safely take Williams into custody without incident.

During the arrest, Williams was found in possession of a significant amount of U.S. currency in denominations consistent with the illegal sale of narcotics. Officers also noted Williams’ history of narcotics use and distribution.
Officers saw, in plain view through the vehicle’s rolled-up windows, a bag of suspected methamphetamines, multiple pill bottles with the labels removed, and mail bearing Williams’ name. The Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team was contacted, and a search warrant for the vehicle was obtained.
The search recovered a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics and related contraband, including:
163 grams of methamphetamines
94.2 grams of cocaine
13.8 grams of crack cocaine
100 hydrocodone tablets
46 oxycodone tablets
34 alprazolam tablets
664 Xanax tablets
984 grams of marijuana
148 grams of synthetic marijuana
2 ounces of THC wax
7 THC cartridges
251 tablets of MDMA (also known as ecstasy)
34 ounces of promethazine
$6,033 in U.S. currency
In a prepared statement, RPD said, “This arrest and seizure represent a significant disruption to illegal drug activity in the Ruston community. RPD also thanked the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team for its assistance in the case.
