A Ruston man was arrested last week after marijuana and methamphetamine was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Antonio Dewayne Brantley, 44, was arrested August 16 for drug possession and giving a fake name in addition to other charges.
Brantley was stopped by Ruston Police on Oakdale Street for not wearing a seatbelt. He gave the officer the name “Tim Jackson,” but the officer recognized him as Brantley.
Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from Brantly’s vehicle. About two grams of marijuana were found in Brantley’s pants pocket. Brantley’s wallet contained identification confirming his name.
Methamphetamine was found in a twisted piece of paper inside a drink cup. Brantley denied knowledge of the methamphetamine, saying it must have fallen into his drink at the time he purchased it earlier in the day.
Brantley said he gave a false name because he was wanted for failure to appear in Ruston City Court.
Brantley was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, resisting an officer by false information, no driver’s license, no seatbelt, and the City Court warrant for failing to appear on a disturbing the peace charge.
